On March 3, 2025, Professor Tobias Hauser was honored with the Science Communication Award from the University of Tübingen. The prize recognizes his innovative public campaign on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which effectively translates scientific knowledge into accessible formats for the broader public, while engaging those affected by the condition.
The award ceremony was held on 19th May as part of a public event that brought together colleagues, students, and guests to celebrate Tobias’ outstanding contributions to science communication. In the speeches of the vice-president Ms. Katja Schenke-Layland and the vice-dean Mr. Tom Gasser, they emphasized the crucial role of clear and engaging science communication in building public trust in research.
The Tübingen Science Communication Award is part of the university’s Excellence Strategy and is awarded annually. It includes a €10,000 prize to support researchers in sharing their findings beyond academia.
More details on the award and this year’s recipients can be found in the official press release.
